Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) was honored to host the launch Nandi County’s first Senator Book launch that was jointly organized by the Kalya Family and Koitaleel Samoei University College. The launch was the first and one of its kind in KSUC and Nandi County at large.

The book entitled ‘The Life and Times of Gerald Nathaniel Kalya’ is a biography that describes the life of a family man, a leader and a politician who left heartfelt acts during his life and times in service to the community. The book describes a man who had a long embodied human capacity to conjure up worlds, both real and imagined, giving voice to the diversity of human experience.

The authors of the book share ideas of the hero and inspire admiration for different cultures, leadership and political lessons, family and religion values hence enabling far-reaching forms of dialogue between people and readers across space and time. They also present a force to address contemporary challenges, to understand political and   economic realities, and to combat inequalities and misinformation in our society.

During his address, the Chief Guest Uasin Gishu County Governor, Hon. Jackson Mandago emphasized on the need for the people to write their own history rather than letting others write for them. His key message was that books are incredibly effective tools for educating to all generations. Other esteemed guests included Nandi County Governor Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot, former Minister Hon. Kipruto Kirwa, former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Canon Samuel Ngeny and the legendary Kipchoge Keino, Prof. Gideon Misoi, among many other distinguished guests.

The family appreciated KSUC for honoring their request to host the book launch and pledged to participate in the establishment of KSUC Endowment Fund that will offer scholarship opportunities to KSUC students with exceptional leadership and academic potential.

KSUC Principal in his remarks appreciated the partnership and underlined KSUC’s commitment to nurturing talent for sustainable development. He further welcomed other authors to consider KSUC for similar and even bigger events for mutual benefit.
