Prof. Winston Jumba Akala, PhD is a Fulbright Scholar and Professor of Research in Education and Curriculum Studies. He is formerly a member of the Kenya National Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Management Council where he also Chaired the Technical Committee on Curriculum. He is an Alumni of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign – USA where he studied education (curriculum research).

He has lectured at the Catholic University and University of Nairobi in the areas of curriculum studies, civic education, research methodology, and Education statistics for many years. He has also supervised academic research, in addition to carrying out consultancies in research and evaluation of programmes at local, national and international levels. Prof Akala has also worked as the Director of Quality Assurance at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa where he created systems and procedures as the management representative steering the university to ISO certification status.

He is meticulous about quality, especially in research and training, among others. His activity areas are in civic education, statistics, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, training and facilitation of community action. Prof. Akala is also a member of the International Association of Educators (INASED) and representative for Kenya and Eastern Africa.
